Redes da Maré works to uphold the rights of residents of Complexo da Maré's 16 favelas. They hold activities, perform research and stimulate dialogue on different social topics in four areas: culture; education; local development; safety and access to justice. They directly impact more than 4,500 people every year.

Your donation will help Redes da Maré provide food and hygiene products to 6,000 families in Maré, distribute 6,000 meals to the homeless, and offer financial support to women working in their projects.

Complexo da Maré is one of the most populous communities in Rio de Janeiro. Sources state that at least 55% of its residents - more than 76,000 people - live below the poverty line, with roughly 13,000 in extreme poverty. Considering the effects of the pandemic and the isolation measures needed to be taken, the situation there has become critical, and families urgently need help.
